About Paula

 

Paula Norton, BSN, is an experienced critical care nurse with over 20 years of ICU experience, including one year in cardiovascular ICU. She has been a dedicated member of the Tanner Medical Center team for nearly 25 years and was promoted to Inpatient Clinical Coordinator in the CVICU in 2023. Paula excels in caring for critically ill patients on mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, continuous renal replacement therapy and mechanical circulatory devices such as impella and intra-aortic balloon pumps.

During the establishment of the new CVICU, Paula played a crucial role as charge nurse, educating CVICU nurses on post-operative care for patients after CABG, valve replacement/repair and various thoracic surgeries. She is a Daisy Award Nominee and holds FCCS Certification (2018) and ECMO Specialist Certification (2023).

In addition to being an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor for over 20 years, Paula excels in teaching various classes, including mechanical circulatory devices, cardiac rhythms, mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, pulmonary artery catheter use for hemodynamic management and transvenous pacemakers. She upholds high standards of patient care and often serves as a preceptor for new employees and students, ensuring exceptional healthcare delivery.
