Adel Mustafa, PhD, earned his PhD in medical physics from Surrey University in England, UK. He has held faculty positions at Kuwait University School of Medicine, New York Medical College and is currently at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Mustafa is the Chief of Diagnostic Radiology Physics at Yale New Haven Health System and the Program Director of the Yale Medical Physics residency program.
Over the years, he has served on several scientific and professional committees within the AAPM. Dr. Mustafa has been an examiner with the American Board of Radiology in diagnostic imaging physics since 2004. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Accreditation Committee and Chief Examiner for the International Medical Physics Certification Board (IMPCB).
Dr. Mustafa's interests include optimizing image quality, managing radiation dose and quantifying disease conditions using multiple imaging modalities, with a focus on CT imaging. He leads a team of medical physicists and collaborates with scientists, radiologists and clinicians in the areas of CT detection, quantification and optimization.
